Join nationally-acclaimed wildlife artist Julie T. Chapman, SAA, AAWA for this wonderful experience in photographing and drawing animals from life. The foundation of any good animal painting is capturing the subject's essence in behavioral gesture and structural correctness, and this will be our focus during these 3 days, along with discussions about the business of art. Julie has won a number of major awards for her work and is a Signature member of the Society of Animal Artists and the American Academy of Women Artists, both invitation-only organizations.
About the workshop: We will spend every day in the scenic beauty of the Flathead area of Kalispell, Montana - on the doorstep of Glacier National Park - up close and personal with the gorgeous Triple D animals, both photographing and sketching them. In addition, there will be time each day for critique sessions, working from Julie's slides, and art business and marketing discussions. Julie's workshop leader style is informal and accessible, with an emphasis on humor; as a self-taught artist, she will speak to you based on hard-won and practical experience. What makes this workshop special are the Triple D staff and animals. We will be able to get a few feet away from gorgeous wildlife models such as cougar, fox, bobcats, wolves, and more. You will leave the workshop inspired by the excitement of being close to these beautiful animals, along with pages of sketches, hundreds of frames of film/digital images, and plenty of ideas for future paintings. All details, schedule, and FAQs can be found at www.JulieTChapman.com and you can read reviews and quotes from previous workshops here. Hope to see you there! Space will be extremely limited (8-10 participants) in order to ensure plenty of in-depth time and discussion. |
